Remaining sexually pure before marriage is tough, but God always makes a way

Some of you are distressing God with your choices that are outside the parameters within which He created us to live and love. Brothers and sisters, God does not want us to cohabit before marriage, and He does not want us to fornicate. Scripture clearly says that a man leaves his parents’ home for his new spouse. Scripture also says fornication is a sin.

Hebrews 13:4(NKJV)

Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.

1 Corinthians 6:9(NKJV)

Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals,[a] nor sodomites,

Genesis 2:24(NKJV)

24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

Some of you have been living alone for a long time because you have always been single or have been married but are divorced or widowed. I know what it feels like to have met “the one” while living in these circumstances. I also know the self-control it takes when those desires and hormones kick in.

Here’s how to avoid them and be sexually pure before marriage.

1. Avoid being alone together so you won’t be doing things that feel right to you but are wrong in God’s eyes.

2. Date in groups.

3. Limit your physical contact to hugging, holding hands and chaste kisses.

4. (which really should be #1) Ask God’s help so that you can honor Him in your relationship before marriage and beyond.

Brothers and sisters, God always takes first place. We are here to follow Jesus, who is God, and live His way of life and love. You can overcome sexual temptation. God always makes a way. Be safe and be blessed.
