Spiritual maturity is tough, but God makes a way, #3

Jesus tells it like it is, and He expects us to do the same.  He expects us to be ready to share what we know and have been taught at the right time in the right circumstances.  That’s where wisdom comes in, and it’s God’s wisdom, not ours.  We need to constantly seek His guidance on what to do and say when.  Sometimes, what we are given to say seems to make no sense, bit if God wills it, say it!

Christians make mistakes about God’s timing, mostly thinking that the message or act needs to be done immediately.  Before you do or say anything, ask God to gudie and convict you that what you are doing is in His plan and timing.  Jesus followed this, too.  A funny/cute example is in the story of the wedding at Cana in John 2.  Jesus’ active ministry didn’t begin until He was about 30.  So keep asking the God who has the plans about the timing.  After all, we are His instruments.

Scripture:  Matthew 10:16, 27, 28 &34

16 “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.  27 “Whatever I tell you in the dark, speak in the light; and what you hear in the ear, preach on the housetops. 28 And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. 34 “Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword.

Let’s Pray

Father God, please grant me the spiritual boldness and wisdom You granted Jesus.  Help me to be so convicted and committed to being and doing what You have for me to be and do regardless of the consequences, be they unpopularity, scorn, mocking, ridicule or even loss of my physical life.  Help me to truly seek first Your kingdom and righteousness.  In Jesus’ name, amen.

Things to Think, Pray and Journal About

1.  Have you ever received a word from the Lord and acted on it without asking for help in understanding His timing?

2.  Have you ever felt sick or weak and knew that God had work for you to do immediately?  Did you ask Him to strengthen and equip you so that you could move forward to do and be what He had for you to do and be?  What happened?
