Yielding to Jesus as Lord can be hard, but God makes a way, #2

Having Jesus as the Lord of your life means putting the things that matter to Him, the Father and the Holy Spirit first.  Isn’t it great that we have the conditional promise in Matthew 6:31-33 that we can remind Him of as long as we do and be what He wants us to do and be?

Please understand that, while we sometimes get anxious because a deadline looms, God always answers on time.  We personally have had to go through some hard times like being homeless and without food for a while.  We’re living proof that God always comes through, sometimes in ways beyond our wildest imagination!  It’s important to understand that this promise applies to things you need.  Blessing you with things you want gives God pleasure, too, but that’s another teaching entirely.

Encouraging Scripture: Matthew 6:31-33

Therefore do not worry saying, “what shall we eat?”  or “What shall we drink?”  or “What shall we wear?”.  For after all these things the Gentiles seek.  For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.  But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you.

Let’s Pray

Father God, help me not to worry about the things I need and the deadlines I have.  Jesus tells me in Matthew 6 that You know what they are.  Help me to focus on what You want me to do and be so totally and completely that I lose sight of my needs until You provide for them like Jesus promised.  In Jesus’ name, amen.

Things to Write, Pray and Journal About

1.  Have you experienced a time when you lacked food, clothing or shelter and went ahead to be and do what the Spirit led you to be and do?  Were your needs provided for?

2.  If you had to choose between doing the work God has given you to do and doing what you want to do, what would you choose?

3.  Do you trust God to provide for your needs even when it’s physically impossible?

4.  Have you asked God to help you transcend your physical circumstances even if they are hard so you can do and be what He has for you to do and be?
