In Matthew 28:18-20, did you notice when Jesus commanded the apostles to evangelize? It was after they had spent much time with Him, experiencing Him and being taught by Him. They were spiritually mature, trained and able to share the blessings of the Good News personified and all that He is.
God will let you know when you are ready to be His instrument of blessing in this way, and he will equip and empower you to say, be and do the right things at the right time for that person. He will grant you love and patience as you wait for His timing in the seeker’s life just like He showed you the same love and patience while bringing you along. Jesus promises He will be with you during this truly special task and for the rest of your physical life. May we all focus on what God has for us to do and be in His time and in His power, wisdom and strength.
Scripture: Matthew 28:18-20
Then Jesus came and spoke to them saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and, lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age”. Amen.
Father God, fill me with Your love and equip me with whatever I need to be and do what You have for me to be and do. Help my life to be an example to those You are calling, and grant me the wisdom and discernment I need to encourage these seekers on their journey to know You and embrace all that You are. You’ve given these seekers a reason to find You, now please help me to be an example inspiring them to stay with You for this lifetime and for eternity. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Things to Think. Pray and Journal About
1. Do you feel a calling to evangelize? Have you asked God if that’s what He has for you to be and do?
2. Everyone makes mistakes. Have you tried to convince a seeker to choose God only to not have it work out? What happened? What would you do differently now?
3. Most seekers are at low points in their lives and want to fill the emptiness inside. Many feel alone and unsupported. How can sharing what love is and how God is love help? How can sharing that, from that moment on, they will never be alone or unsupported again with Jesus in their lives giving hope and a reason to not only begin but stay on the Christian journey?
