When God called you, He changed your life and drew you to Him, interesting you in the things that will keep you with Him forever. You’ve changed how you look at things, and you strive to live following Jesus’ examples and God’s spiritual law of love towards Him, others and self. You strive to make choices daily and many times daily to think about things the way God does and to do things the way He would. In just the same way, God can change your hurting, divorced heart into a joyful, beauty-focused one.
There’s no timeframe for mourning, whether it’s the death of a loved one or the death of a relationship. Each of us is different. Unfortunately, there’s no way to break free other than to endure, to go through whatever process you need to. We’re sorry about the pain and suffering involved in letting go of a divorce, but that comes with it, too. The good news is that God is here to not only guide your recovery, but to comfort you now and always. He wants you to call upon Him whenver you need to.
Encouraging Scripture: Isaiah 612b & 63a
To comfort all who mourn, to console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning.
Father God, I am divorced and grieving the loss of a relationship. You sent Jesus to minister to us, and jesus sent the Holy Spirit to do the same. Please embrace me with Your love, comfort, encouragement and support while You accompany me on my emotional recovery path so that I can break free from the trauma of divorce to be and do all that You have for me to be and do. Help my hurting heart to enjoy the life You’ve given me to live, and thanks for being there while Your love makes me whole again. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Things to Think, Pray and Journal About
1. Divorce hurts. Have you cried out to Jesus and shared your pain with Him? If not, can you do it now? “Jesus, help!” “Father God, help!” “Holy Spirit, help!”
2. Does it help to know that even thought God may not change your divorce and the circumstances around it, He can help you change how you think and feel on the road to emotional release from your divorce?
