Are you discouraged because you believe God gave you something to do and, no matter how hard you try, it just doesn’t seem to get done? Are you discouraged because you’re faced with a problem that’s truly too big for you to solve? Did you have plans and goals in your life and just haven’t reached them no matter how hard you’ve tried or no matter what you’ve done?
God knows what you face, and he knows how you feel. Sometimes, He changes His plans, and we keep on with the old “marching orders” without consulting Him. We all say there’s nothing too big for God, but why is it that our actions tend to be on our own power and not His? If something’s definitely His will for your life, He will make a way in His time. Our plans and goals may be simply that: our plans and goals. They may conflict with God’s plans and goals for our lives. Since we hope you’ve accepted Jesus as Lord of your life in addition to His being your Savior, we pray that you’ll yield to His plan and purpose and allow yourself not only to be spirit-filled but spirit-led.
Encouraging Scripture: Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Father god, discouragement gets in the way of doing and being what You have for me to be and do. Please intervene and replace the discouragement with a sense of purpose and empowerment so that I can break free and live Matthew 6:33 with my whole heart. Please take my burdens, the things which I cannot change, and help me to focus on the things I can do something about. Grant me all that I need including wisdom, courage and faith. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Things to Think, Pray and Journal About
1. How does knowing you are not alone in your discouragement help you feel better? Has this helped you to break free?
2. Have you asked God to help you move beyond your discouragement and grant you a victory? Have you asked Him to equip you with all you need so you can move forward?
3. Is part of your discouragement anger at God for not delivering you from your problems? Do you know He is ready and willing to forgive you? Have you told Him specifically why you’re mad at Him? Can you ask Him to forgive you and free you from the burden of your anger?
4. Have you asked God to minister to you with His love? have you experienced His love, gentleness and kindness?
